Being Desi

If 2005 was a year of watching South Park, 2006 looks like the year of reading Blogs. Although peer competition forced me into writing blogs, I wasn't into reading other blogs (except my peers' blogs with whom I was competing). Lately though, reading blogs has become a new hobby for me.

It so happened that one fine day, after screwing with XP system files, my Office PC crashed and I lost all my old RSS Blogs bookmarks. Some of them include materialistic blogs like Google's unofficial news, Apple products' updates and Deals2buy. It made me realise whatever I was reading was in fact, not quite worth reading. Otherwise, even after losing those bookmarks, I would have remembered them if they had made a solid impression on me.

I started off fresh after the PC crash. Sitting extra hours, (after office time :) ) I managed to set up a few bookmarks that came out from my memory. I searched for a few ones (related to Sepia Mutiny) on the then, newly introduced Google Blogsearch. I found one of the most popular bloggers on Indian Blog scene - Great Bong. I also found my religion on his blog - Mithunism. As a child, I loved Mithunda's break-dance, His action scenes and now, I love the intense dialogues in his movies, the khoony looks on His face, His heroines and ofcourse, His action scenes. Mithunda is a complete package. I am pretty sure He is The One.

Besides GB, I started my quest for other Desi-themed blogs. I found my city, my streets and brilliant photos from Indian photographers. Blogs about Mumbai street food just makes my mouth water. Ofcourse, my taste buds have developed to gulp down anything now but how can I forget the food that I cherished for 20 years? And I love the witty style by Crystal Blur and her to-be-continued series of Mahabharata. I like reading the blog of people who stand up for a cause and support such. I like staying updated with current events from India Uncut. Somehow, these blogs just click! I guess its because this is the world I belong to, the people/place/food I can relate to, and its fun to read them. They have made my online reading experience so much interesting!
