Chapter 6: Quick Grand-a-view Canyons
The Grand Canyon
We left Williams after having omlettes and Cowboy-Coffee for breakfast at a downtown diner. For the first time, I saw speed limits of 75mph in USA. Nice to be "officially" above 70! When we reached the point where we could see the Grand Canyon, Pal and Dsu ditched us to be first to see the GC. We were still searching for parking but found one spot at some distance ahead. So, it was a little further from the actual point to see the view. While heading towards the point, we actually found this *spot* which was about 50 feet inside the Canyon. Instead of going to the point, we explored a 360-degree view from over the spot. We ditched the ditchers this time!
Sorry, no tip for you!
Our entire day went by sight-seeing the Canyons. Sunset part was really beautiful but it was chilly enough NOT to enjoy it! By the time we were done with the *tour*, we were really hungry. We decided on a decent restaurant with some fine wining-n-dining. To serve us, we had a wierdo waiter. His accent made simplest thing complicated. He messed up initially while taking orders and he even kept asking us to try more bread even when we were done with our food. This behavior really offended all of us and on top of that, he really pissed me as he did not give me enough wine like others on the table. So, we decided not to leave any tip for him. Served him right for his stupid behavior!
Back to Williams
It was couple of hours drive to Williams. No hotel fit in our budget at GC. Williams was not too far and we headed right back for the same hotel. We got the same rooms too! For this night, we were tired to hang out in a pub. So we decided to have beer at the hotel room. Dsu and I joined Pal to get some beer. We found the one-and-only store open to get beer. Pal drove the minivan right on the footpath next to the store. As we entered the store, the store-owner said we actually parked next to her drive-thru. Wow! I couldn't believe it was a drive-thru but when I saw our van from the small glass window, I realised she was not bluffing. After picking up some beer, we decided to *explore* Williams and roamed in some lanes. We found this one road which had a huge bump (more like a speed-breaker for monster trucks) and it was like a small roller coaster ride for us. We three agreed to take one more shot at full speed on the van and go over the bump. We grabbed our breath and put on our seat-belts firmly. Pal pressed hard on the gas and raced the van for the mighty jump. As we were approaching the jump-spot, Dsu discovered a guy standing outside his house seeing what we were doing. So we have a spectator to watch our stunt! And in a few seconds, the moment arrived. *Swoosh* ... *Thud* ... *Thump*
"HeeeeeHaaawwww!!!!" ... It was a breathtaking ride! ;)
