Chapter 2: Morning at Las Vegas

Rental Car
We booked a rental car at the airport itself. All five of us were waiting in line to get one car. Its the kind of close friendship we have (umm, and the other reason is that otherwise, they would have just left the whole goddamn thing on me). So we got a Ford freestar but boy, its horsepower felt less than my Honda Civic. This ford minivan dragged like a hand-cart and a full press of its acceleration pedal only resulted in the rpm zooming into the red zone (but the speed would remain the same). That's ford's magic for you! Anyways, Pal was the navigator and he sure knows how to be a *pain-in-the-ass*. For the car! :) Our rental car policy is simple. Drive to its extreme! Taking some hints from New Orleans trip, Pal jumped up to take the sole responsiblity to check the music system. Yea, it did sound *loud* at full volume and no, it didn't break the car windows. Oh, he even tried slamming the doors a few times in the parking lot to make sure it sounds *closed*. Boy, at that point, I knew the car would want to take revenge with Pal. Yea, its a different story in itself and I'll probably cover it in a later chapter.

Desi Lunch
So, what's the first thing we do when we arrive in the Las Vegas? We eat. We searched for a few restaurants and had Indian on our minds (with those unlimited-food buffets and spicy dishes), it was hard to resist to enter The Tamba. The ambience was just perfect. Bollywood music in background, no chatter nor baby crying, and dim lights made the settings just right. But that was before we sat to eat. When we started, we were shouting and talking and eating and getting pictures. It was chaos at its best!

Casinos and NY-NY ride
With everybody's jeans buttons opened up from a heavy lunch, we headed off to Monte Carlo casino. So, it began! Surfing casinos, taking pictures but no gambling! We reached NY-NY and we were bored with sight-seeing. We needed some adventures. What better than take a fun-ride over the NewYork City (casino). As usual, we tested everybody's fear limits. Patil was siked to the max that the roller coaster would bring his intestines out and Bonda was again amused with goo and vomit. Fortunately, those 2 did not quite listen to Pal and I and they did enjoyed their first roller coaster ride. Pritam could not join us - he has fear of heights (I forgot the phobia word for it ... too lazy to google it now). After the ride, I guess Patil and Pritam(?) were exhausted and they headed to the Hotel while Pal, Bonda and I headed for more casinos. We finally reached the end of the strip near Luxor. Luxor (the pyramid-one) faced us with a unique challenge. It ran into our minds how would it look like from the top floor of a pyramid. Since the elevator would not let us in without a hotel key, we had to use other measures. We could have used dropped the idea or taken the stairs but instead, we followed people with keys into the elevator. Couple of tries failed but eventually, a gullible couple fell for our devious plan. We reached the 32nd floor and gasped at the spectacular view from the top.

Vassool!
